In recent years, the issue of transgender medical treatment for children has gained enormous traction. Activists, clinicians, and politicians claim that "gender-affirming care" is life-saving, compassionate, and scientifically backed. But beneath the polished slogans lies a disturbing truth: children are being used as guinea pigs in a system driven more by ideology and profit than science or ethics.
 

Puberty Blockers Were Never Designed for Gender Dysphoria

Drugs like Lupron were originally developed to treat precocious puberty—not gender identity distress. In children with gender dysphoria, these drugs are being used off-label, halting natural puberty in healthy bodies without sufficient long-term studies. The claim that blockers are "fully reversible" is scientifically unproven. Brain development, bone density, and fertility are all affected. Moreover, most children started on puberty blockers go on to cross-sex hormones, effectively placing them on an irreversible path toward sterilization.

4. Children Were Being Fast-Tracked Without Safeguarding

Clinics like the Tavistock Gender Identity Development Service have been accused of rushing children into life-altering decisions after minimal psychological assessment. Internal whistleblower reports revealed that staff feared raising concerns due to political pressure. Safeguarding was sacrificed on the altar of ideology.

Cross-Sex Hormones Cause Irreversible Damage

Cross-sex hormone treatments, such as testosterone for girls and estrogen for boys, lead to irreversible changes: permanent voice deepening, breast development, infertility, liver damage, and increased risk of cardiovascular disease. Administering these substances to minors before their bodies and brains are fully developed ensures a lifetime of medical dependency.

No Strong Evidence of Long-Term Benefit

Several systematic reviews and national investigations, including the UK’s Cass Review and the Swedish SBU report, have found the evidence for these treatments' efficacy to be "low quality" or "inconclusive." The long-term mental health outcomes do not show clear improvement, and post-transition suicide rates remain troublingly high. Mental health conditions are often ignored in favour of immediate affirmation.
